AS Roma sporting director Monchi has defended the sale of Alisson to Liverpool. After selling Mohammed Salah to Liverpool last summer, the Italian side are currently in the process of selling Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson Becker to the same club though for a record fee.Monchi has come to the club’s defence after they came under much scrutiny for their transfer policy after seeing two key players leave the club to Anfield in just under two years. The sporting director insists the decision to sell Alisson is not a lack of ambition on the part of the Giallorossi as the keeper closes in on a record £67million move to the Premier League club.Alisson enjoyed a very good 2017-18 season as Roma finished third in the Serie-A while also getting to the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. The Brazilian was also part of Brazil’s 23 man squad to the just concluded 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.Virgil van Dijk praises Roberto Firmino after Liverpool’s win Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Virgil van Dijk hailed team-mate Roberto Firmino after coming off the bench to inspire Liverpool to a 3-1 comeback win against Newcastle United. The goalkeeper had one of the best records of the tournament conceding only three goals in five games for the Selecao as they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual second-runners up Belgium.“Nothing is finalised yet but we’re in advanced negotiations with Liverpool and Alisson is also over there in England,” Monchi said about the Brazilian during a press conference to unveil new signing Justin Kluivert, according to Goal.“When a substantial bid of that magnitude comes in, we’ve to consider the pros and cons before making a decision.”“Selling Alisson isn’t a lack of ambition for me, the ambition is to build a very good team not just for one season but for many years,” Monchi responded to the criticism of the Rome based club.“Nobody would have thought we could sign players like Pastore or Kluivert but we’ve both with us.”
With Karim Benzema injured for the next month at least, it’s time for Mariano Diaz to step up and earn that spot he always wanted at Real Madrid. The most recent results from Real Madrid in all competitions have been extremely worrying, the lack of goals point directly at Karim Benzema and Mariano Diaz needs to take advantage of the Frenchman’s new injury during the club’s next two matches.According to a report from Real Madrid’s official website, Karim has suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him out of competition for at least two weeks. This means that Mariano Diaz will have the opportunity to play Los Blancos’ next two matches against Levante in La Liga and Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League, a unique opportunity that chance has given the Dominican striker to take Benzema’s place for El Clasico that will take place at the Camp Nou by the end of October.A crucial match that is happening a bit sooner than we are used to, as it used to take place in December in previous years but La Liga’s new schedules have programmed it like this.Mariano is eager to get those two chances by manager Julen Lopetegui, who for some reason hasn’t used his most recent transfer as he maybe should’ve because Karim Benzema had a privileged position in the squad.Estamos listos, podemos hacerlo, juntos a por la victoria #HastaElFinalVamosReal pic.twitter.com/XAdh6hTdiv— Mariano Díaz Mejía (@marianodiaz7) October 6, 2018The French striker started the season with all his might, he scored five goals in the first four matches in all competitions and made us all believe that we were about to experience a new Karim Benzema. However, the striker soon went back to his old ways and started being completely irrelevant in the most important matches of the season.Karim’s low form has been a major reason why Los Blancos haven’t really performed lately, they strictly depend on his and Gareth Bale’s goals now that Cristiano Ronaldo is gone and he has let everyone down. With this new injury he just picked up, it’s Mariano’s golden chance to prove to Lopetegui that he can be the top scorer in the squad. It all depends on him, the man has been getting ready for this chance and it’s highly unlikely that he will let it pass that easily.Mourinho: “Lionel Messi made me a better coach” Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Jose Mourinho believes the experience of going up against Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi at Real Madrid made him a greater coach.Mariano left Lyon with the sole reason to become Real Madrid’s top offensive player, but he has been frustrated with the lack of opportunities that manager Julen Lopetegui has given him since he arrived.Listo para otra jornada de #Champions 💪 Esta noche nos espera el @pfc_cska #UCL#HalaMadrid pic.twitter.com/Qp6cTseVNS— Mariano Díaz Mejía (@marianodiaz7) October 2, 2018In fact, there have even been reports of the Dominican striker being really angry towards the manager. When Mariano Diaz had a verbal agreement to play with Sevilla this season, it was Julen Lopetegui the one who convinced him to break that deal and play for Real Madrid. The Spanish manager promised him to have a titular role in the squad, a promise that Julen never honored with the player so far and this is what has Mariano very disappointed with the boss. His anger grows even further because the squad is getting poor results lately, and the manager had to get the news of an injured Karim Benzema in order to start looking at the Dominican striker as the option he had left. But the player wants to prove his worth regardless of how they have treated him, he knows that playing his best football will be more than enough to change Lopetegui’s mind, and leave Kari Benzema on the bench once and for all.The French player has always enjoyed a privileged position in the team, even during the times when he hasn’t been at his best like right now. But Mariano wants to change that for good, he believes the next two matches are his best opportunity yet.💪⚽ Our preparations for Saturday’s trip to @Alaves are underway! #RMCity pic.twitter.com/Oca1Jzsulg— Real Madrid C.F. 🇬🇧🇺🇸 (@realmadriden) October 4, 2018Do you think Mariano can change Julen Lopetegui’s mind and take the starring role from Karim Benzema as Real Madrid’s main striker? © 2019 Science X Network A trio of geoscientists with Pennsylvania State University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has published an an update in the journal Science on the state of weather forecasting. In their paper, Richard Alley, Kerry Emanuel and Fuqing Zhang report statistics demonstrating the increased accuracy of weather forecasting, and their views on where the field is headed. Most people have a love-hate relationship with their local weather forecaster—when they are right, we carry on as best we can given conditions outside. But when they are wrong, we cast aspirations on their character and wonder why we listen to them at all. But weather forecasters have become more accurate, the authors claim, noting that today, a five-day forecast is as accurate as a one-day forecast was as recently as 1980. And a 72-hour hurricane warning today is more accurate than a 24-hour warning was 40 years ago. It is also far more accessible. Not very long ago, we had to wait for the morning paper or the evening news to get our report, but now we can fire up a phone app and get not just a forecast, but up-to-the-minute radar images of moving storms. The researchers point out the improvements are mostly due to technology. They note that the same basic tools are used for forecasting, but improvements to those tools have made results far more impressive. Foremost among them are improvements in computer hardware and software. They also point out that forecasting is more than just predicting rain or snow, it also includes things like hints on which way forest fires will move, how much ice will melt in the Arctic, or how much the sea will rise, leading to flooding in the future. It is also playing an increasingly larger role in helping people plan renewable energy projects.Looking to the future, the authors offer a generally sunny forecast. As computers and weather models improve, so will the forecasts they offer. But they also note there is a catch—weather forecasting costs more than it used to, so it is important that investments by both government and private entities continue or even increase. Also, important is data sharing between entities, particularly between different countries. Accurate data, they note, will only benefit everyone.
